Ginette Legaré’s recent mixed-media works continue her exploration of one's relationships with surrounding objects, whether these are images, texts, or things. Her interest revolves around how such objects can reinsert themselves into the world as abstractions and as hints of what was once missed or taken for granted-- a re-enactment that redeems the partly hidden from obscurity, like a brief insight momentarily lost and recaptured. Thus, Legaré’s work searches for new links in the ‘given’, using an ‘already available’ visual vocabulary-- a line, a gap, a solid, a space-- to question, or find, the visible that seems inherently hidden.

The artist would like to acknowledge funding support from the City of Toronto through Toronto Arts Council, and from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario.
